# Wrapped token

## Definition

A wrapped token is a tokenized representation of another asset on a blockchain where the original asset does not natively exist in the same form.

## What it means in practice

Wrapped assets usually depend on custody, bridge, mint-and-burn or protocol mechanisms that connect the representation to the underlying asset.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

Terenval users on supported EVM networks should treat a wrapped asset as a contract-based token distinct from a native coin.

**Important:** A wrapped ticker such as WBTC or WETH does not remove bridge, custodian or smart-contract risk.
