# Wallet password

## Definition

A wallet password is an application-level secret used by some wallets to protect local access or encrypted wallet data; it is not automatically the same as the seed phrase or private key.

## What it means in practice

Losing an app password can have very different consequences from losing recovery material. A password may be reset only through the wallet's supported local/recovery design, while a seed phrase may recreate the underlying accounts in compatible software.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

In Terenval, local unlock credentials and recovery material serve different roles. Users should not treat a local PIN/password as a replacement for a secure wallet backup.

**Important:** Do not reuse an exchange or email password as a reason to neglect seed-phrase backup security.
