# Wallet migration

## Definition

Wallet migration is the process of moving wallet access or assets from one wallet application or security setup to another.

## What it means in practice

Migration can mean importing the same recovery material or creating a new wallet and sending assets to new addresses; these approaches have different security consequences.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

Importing an existing seed into Terenval preserves the same underlying recovery authority where compatible, while moving to a newly generated Terenval wallet creates new recovery material.

**Important:** If migration is motivated by suspected seed exposure, importing the compromised seed into another app does not make it safe again.
