# Validator

## Definition

An Ethereum validator is a participant in Proof of Stake that proposes or attests to blocks after activating stake under protocol rules.

## What it means in practice

Validators are part of Ethereum consensus and are distinct from ordinary wallet users who simply hold or transfer ETH.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

Terenval uses Ethereum network state secured by validators; ordinary wallet use does not make a user an Ethereum validator.

**Important:** Do not confuse holding ETH in a wallet with operating validator infrastructure.
