# Sequencer

## Definition

A sequencer is a component used by many Layer 2 systems to order user transactions and produce batches before those batches are finalized or posted according to the rollup protocol.

## What it means in practice

Sequencer design differs by network and can affect latency, transaction ordering and temporary availability.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

Terenval submits transactions to the selected L2 network; transaction ordering then follows that network's sequencer and protocol rules.

**Important:** A fast sequencer acknowledgement is not always the same as final settlement on Ethereum.
