# Seed phrase leak

## Definition

A seed phrase leak occurs when wallet recovery words become accessible to an unauthorized person, device, application, log, cloud service or other untrusted environment.

## What it means in practice

Because the phrase can recreate signing keys, exposure should be treated as compromise even if no theft has happened yet.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

Terenval's production flow keeps the seed/recovery phrase on the user's device, but users can still leak it through screenshots, malware, backups or social engineering.

**Important:** If a seed phrase is exposed, moving assets to a newly generated safe wallet is generally safer than continuing to reuse the same recovery material.
