# Rollup

## Definition

A rollup is a Layer 2 design that executes or batches transactions outside Ethereum's base execution layer and posts data or proofs back to Ethereum for settlement or verification.

## What it means in practice

Rollups aim to increase throughput and reduce per-user costs while retaining a defined security relationship with Ethereum.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

Terenval supports several Ethereum L2 networks built around rollup technology, including Arbitrum One, Optimism, Base, ZKsync Era, Linea and Scroll.

**Important:** A lower L2 fee does not mean assets automatically exist on Ethereum mainnet; balances are network-specific.
