# Reverted transaction

## Definition

A reverted transaction is an Ethereum-style transaction whose execution was rolled back because a smart contract reverted or another execution condition failed.

## What it means in practice

State changes from the failed execution are reverted, but gas spent performing the attempted execution is generally still charged.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

When a Terenval contract interaction reverts, the wallet cannot retroactively force the contract call to succeed; users need to inspect the cause.

**Important:** A revert can be caused by contract logic, allowance, slippage, state or gas conditions, so diagnose before retrying.
