# Replacement transaction

## Definition

A replacement transaction is a new transaction intended to supersede an earlier pending transaction by using the same ordering position or spending conflict under network-specific rules.

## What it means in practice

Ethereum commonly replaces a pending transaction with the same nonce and higher effective fee; Bitcoin can use opt-in Replace-by-Fee rules.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

Terenval users should only attempt replacement when the selected network and wallet flow explicitly support the required mechanism.

**Important:** A replacement can change fee or destination depending on the network, so verify every field before signing.
