# Replace-by-Fee

## Definition

Replace-by-Fee, or RBF, is a Bitcoin policy mechanism that allows an eligible unconfirmed transaction to be replaced by a conflicting transaction that pays a sufficiently higher fee.

## What it means in practice

RBF is primarily a mempool and relay-policy concept; final acceptance still depends on miner and node policy until a transaction confirms.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

If a Terenval Bitcoin transaction is eligible for replacement, the user should still verify what replacement behavior the current wallet flow exposes before acting.

**Important:** Do not assume every pending Bitcoin transaction can be RBF-replaced; signaling and policy matter.
