# QR code scam

## Definition

A QR code scam uses a malicious or substituted QR code to direct a user to the wrong crypto address, phishing site or connection request.

## What it means in practice

Attackers can replace printed codes, send fake payment images or encode URLs that resemble wallet actions.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

When scanning with or for Terenval, users should verify the decoded address, network and purpose before approving anything.

**Important:** A QR image is only an encoding method; it is not proof that the encoded destination is trustworthy.
