# Priority fee

## Definition

Priority fee, often called a tip, is the EIP-1559 fee component intended to incentivize the block proposer beyond the base fee.

## What it means in practice

The total paid per unit of gas depends on the base fee, the priority fee and the transaction's maximum-fee cap.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

Terenval fee presentation for Ethereum-style transactions reflects network pricing and is not a guarantee of a specific confirmation time.

**Important:** An unnecessarily high tip can increase cost without guaranteeing instant inclusion.
