# Blockchain node

## Definition

A blockchain node is software that connects to a blockchain network to receive, verify, relay or serve network data according to the node's role.

## What it means in practice

Nodes can differ in how much history they store and which services they expose to wallets or applications.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

Terenval depends on network data sources or nodes to read blockchain state and broadcast supported transactions, while signing remains in the wallet flow.

**Important:** A node endpoint can be unavailable or stale, so wallet connectivity is not the same thing as blockchain consensus failure.
