# Network fee

## Definition

A network fee is the amount paid according to a blockchain's fee mechanism to have a transaction processed, propagated or included in the network's ledger.

## What it means in practice

Fee rules differ by blockchain. Bitcoin fees depend on transaction data size and fee market conditions, while Ethereum uses gas-based pricing.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

Terenval Wallet shows network-specific transaction flows; fees come from the blockchain network and can vary with congestion and transaction type.

**Important:** A high network fee is not automatically a wallet service charge; identify which part is paid to the network before comparing wallet costs.
