# Hot wallet

## Definition

A hot wallet is a cryptocurrency wallet used on an internet-connected device, making it convenient for regular transactions and dApp interaction but exposed to the security environment of that device.

## What it means in practice

Hot and cold describe operating environment, not custody. A hot wallet can still be non-custodial if the user controls its recovery/key material.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

Terenval Wallet is a mobile software wallet and should be treated operationally as a hot wallet rather than as cold-storage hardware.

**Important:** Keep the phone and operating system updated, verify transactions before signing and store recovery material separately from the connected device.
