# Gas

## Definition

Gas is Ethereum's unit for measuring the computational and storage work required to execute a transaction or smart-contract operation.

## What it means in practice

Each operation consumes a defined amount of gas, and the final fee depends on gas used together with the applicable fee parameters.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

On Ethereum and supported EVM/L2 networks, Terenval transaction flows expose the network fee context produced by gas-based execution.

**Important:** Gas is an execution unit, not a token balance; the fee is normally paid in the network's native fee asset.
