# Gas fee

## Definition

A gas fee is the Ethereum-style transaction fee calculated from the gas used by an operation and the fee paid per unit of gas.

## What it means in practice

Simple ETH transfers and complex smart-contract calls can consume different amounts of gas. L2 networks may use related but distinct fee components.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

Terenval supports Ethereum and several L2/EVM networks, where users may encounter different gas costs depending on network congestion and the transaction being executed.

**Important:** Lower fees can be a reason to use an L2, but always verify that the destination and asset exist on the selected network.
