# dApp

## Definition

A dApp, or decentralized application, is an application whose core logic or state uses one or more blockchain smart contracts instead of relying only on a conventional centralized backend.

## What it means in practice

dApps often use a normal web or mobile interface while transaction approval and signing happen in the user's wallet.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

Terenval Wallet can connect to compatible dApps through WalletConnect, letting the wallet receive requests while the user keeps control of signing.

**Important:** A legitimate-looking interface can still request harmful permissions, so verify the domain, network and requested action before signing.
