# Cross-chain messaging

## Definition

Cross-chain messaging is the transmission of verified instructions or state information from one blockchain network to another through a bridge or interoperability protocol.

## What it means in practice

Messaging systems can be used for token transfers, governance actions or application coordination without necessarily representing the same security model on every route.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

Terenval can hold accounts on supported chains, while any cross-chain message is governed by the external interoperability protocol that carries it.

**Important:** Verify the protocol and destination chain because a valid message on one route does not make every bridge path equally secure.
