# Cold wallet

## Definition

A cold wallet is a wallet whose signing keys are kept in an environment intended to remain offline or isolated from routine internet-connected activity.

## What it means in practice

Cold storage can reduce exposure to online malware, but it does not remove backup, physical theft, supply-chain or transaction-verification risks.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

Terenval Wallet is a mobile software wallet and should not be described as cold storage. It can complement, but is operationally different from, an offline or hardware-wallet setup.

**Important:** Use the storage model that matches the value and frequency of transactions rather than assuming 'cold' automatically means risk-free.
