# Chain reorganization

## Definition

A chain reorganization, or reorg, occurs when a blockchain node replaces part of its previously accepted chain history with another valid branch favored by the protocol's consensus rules.

## What it means in practice

A reorg can temporarily remove or reorder recent transactions until the network settles on the new history.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

Terenval transaction status ultimately follows the selected network, so very recent confirmations can change if that network reorganizes.

**Important:** Confirmation depth and finality matter precisely because recent chain state can be less stable than older state.
