# Chain ID

## Definition

A Chain ID is a numeric network identifier used by Ethereum and EVM-compatible networks to distinguish transaction-signing domains and help prevent replay across chains.

## What it means in practice

Ethereum mainnet, Base, Arbitrum and other EVM networks use different Chain IDs even when account addresses have the same 0x format.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

Terenval's multi-network interface uses network context to separate supported chains, and Chain ID is part of that underlying EVM distinction.

**Important:** Always confirm the selected network instead of relying only on the address format.
