# Blockchain

## Definition

A blockchain is an append-oriented data structure in which ordered blocks of records are linked cryptographically and maintained according to a network's consensus rules.

## What it means in practice

Public blockchains let independent participants verify shared transaction history without relying on one database operator.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

Terenval reads and signs activity for supported blockchain networks such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and supported EVM/L2 chains; it does not replace those networks.

**Important:** Blockchain immutability does not make every transaction, token or dApp trustworthy.
