# Block height

## Definition

Block height is the sequential number of a block in a blockchain, measured from the first block in the chain's history.

## What it means in practice

In Bitcoin, block height is often used to identify where a transaction was confirmed and to reason about confirmation depth or protocol events tied to specific heights.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

Terenval transaction status ultimately reflects Bitcoin network data such as inclusion in a block and the blocks that follow it.

**Important:** A block number alone is not a payment proof; also verify the transaction ID, destination and amount.
