# Base

## Definition

Base is an Ethereum Layer 2 network built with the OP Stack and designed to execute EVM-compatible transactions while settling to Ethereum.

## What it means in practice

Base has its own chain state and fees; using the same 0x account address does not merge Base balances with Ethereum mainnet balances.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

Base is one of the built-in real networks supported by Terenval Wallet.

**Important:** Confirm that the recipient or dApp expects Base before signing or bridging assets.
