# Arbitrum

## Definition

Arbitrum is an Ethereum Layer 2 ecosystem whose Arbitrum One network uses optimistic-rollup technology to execute transactions with lower costs than Ethereum mainnet in many conditions.

## What it means in practice

Arbitrum One has its own network state, balances, fees and bridge paths even though it settles to Ethereum.

## How this concept appears in Terenval Wallet

Arbitrum One is one of the built-in real networks supported by Terenval Wallet.

**Important:** An Arbitrum address may look like an Ethereum address, but assets remain on the selected network until moved through an appropriate bridge or transfer route.
