ZKsync Era vs Linea vs Scroll: Which ZK L2 Has the Strongest User Ecosystem?
Data captured: 2026-10-03 · Product facts checked: 2026-10-03 · Last reviewed: 2026-10-03
Editorial disclosure: “Strongest ecosystem” is evaluated through measurable dimensions, not a single ranking. The figures below are dated snapshots. Terenval supports all three network contexts but does not rank their safety or investment merit.
Verification snapshot — 3 October 2026: L2BEAT showed roughly $228.9M TVS for ZKsync Era, $383.3M for Linea and $48.7M for Scroll. DeFiLlama showed roughly $15.7M / $26.1M / $9.1M DeFi TVL, respectively, and about $37.9M / $36.9M / $9.36M stablecoin market cap. Activity and live-fee measurements change quickly and should be compared from the same measurement surface at decision time.
ZKsync Era, Linea and Scroll are all Ethereum scaling networks using zero-knowledge rollup technology families, but users encounter different liquidity, application availability, bridges and operational/security assumptions. In the 3 October 2026 snapshot Linea was largest by L2BEAT TVS and DeFiLlama TVL, while ZKsync Era had a slightly larger captured stablecoin market cap than Linea. Those dimensions do not produce a universal winner. For a real transaction, the decisive questions are whether the required dApp/token exists, what liquidity and fee apply to the exact task, and what current security/withdrawal assumptions each L2 has.
Dated comparison matrix
| Dimension | ZKsync Era | Linea | Scroll |
|---|---|---|---|
| L2BEAT TVS | ~$228.9M | ~$383.3M | ~$48.7M |

| Gas asset | ETH | ETH | ETH |
| Activity | Compare current L2BEAT/DeFiLlama window | Compare same window | Compare same window |
| Same-task fee | Live check required | Live check required | Live check required |
| Canonical exit | Verify current official/L2BEAT project documentation | Same | Same |
Why methodology matters more than a dated ranking
These ecosystems can change quickly when incentive programs, DEX deployments or bridge liquidity shift. A permanent statement that one network has the “strongest ecosystem” would age badly. A better comparison fixes the dimensions—TVS, DeFi TVL, stablecoin liquidity, activity, live transaction cost, dApp availability and exit model—and refreshes them together.
Users should also separate chain-wide metrics from the exact application they need. A network with lower aggregate TVL can still have the deeper market for a particular token or protocol.
Security and finality
ZK technology does not eliminate sequencer, upgrade, bridge or governance risks. L2BEAT should be used to understand current stage and risk assumptions, while official network documentation should be used for canonical bridge and withdrawal behavior. TVS and TVL are not security scores.
Where Terenval fits
Terenval currently lists ZKsync Era, Linea and Scroll among its supported networks. That makes it possible to compare the same wallet-side workflow across all three without changing wallets: select the chain, verify the asset contract, ensure ETH gas exists on that network, check the destination/dApp, review the current fee and sign only after the network context is correct.
The first-party Terenval message is “available in one wallet,” not “equally safe” or “always cheaper.” External network and dApp risks remain external to the wallet.

Refresh all quantitative values in one measurement session. If an activity or fee metric cannot be captured on the same comparable basis for all three networks, label it as not directly comparable instead of filling the table with a different metric.
