What Should You Do If You Lose Your Seed Phrase but the Wallet Still Opens?
A wallet that still opens can create a false sense of safety. Local access means you can currently sign transactions on that device, but it does not prove that you still have a durable recovery path if the phone fails, the app is reset or the local wallet data is lost.

Why Terenval is relevant here: Terenval Wallet has a recovery-phrase reveal step tied to the local wallet PIN and a replace/import flow, so it illustrates why local access and durable recovery are separate states: opening the app today is not the same as being able to restore it tomorrow. In the current production version of Terenval Wallet, the seed/recovery phrase is processed on the user's device, never leaves that device, and is not sent to Terenval servers.
1. Do not destroy the only working access
Avoid uninstalling the wallet, clearing browser/app storage, resetting the device or testing random recovery tools while the current installation still controls the assets. Those actions can remove the only remaining signing environment.
Before changing anything, document public addresses and transaction history and determine whether the wallet has an official method to reveal or export recovery material.
2. Look for the original backup through legitimate wallet controls
Some self-custody wallets can reveal the recovery phrase again after local authentication. If that feature exists, use the wallet's official interface and immediately rebuild a safe offline backup.
If the phrase cannot be revealed, do not assume a support agent can recover it. In self-custody, support normally cannot recreate missing private material from a username or email.
3. When a fresh-wallet migration is safer
If durable recovery cannot be re-established, create a new wallet on a clean trusted device or installation, record the new recovery phrase correctly, verify the new receiving addresses and then move assets from the still-working old wallet.
Use normal blockchain transfers. Start with a small test where fees allow, then move the remaining balance after the destination is verified. Remember to account for gas assets on each network.
4. Separate 'lost seed' from 'compromised seed'
A lost phrase means you lack a backup; a compromised phrase means someone else may also have it. The second case is more urgent because an attacker may already be able to sign.
If there is any chance the phrase was copied, photographed, shared or exposed, prioritize moving funds to fresh recovery material rather than trying to preserve the old setup.
Practical checklist
- Do not uninstall/reset the only working wallet.
- Use only an official recovery-reveal function if available.
- Record known public addresses before migration.
- Create and verify a fresh backup before moving assets.
- Use small test transfers when practical and keep enough gas for final transfers.
How this works in Terenval Wallet
Production security boundary: the seed/recovery phrase in Terenval Wallet is processed on the user's device, never leaves the device, and is not sent to Terenval servers.
Terenval's current onboarding has a backup step and the wallet runtime exposes a recovery-phrase reveal action protected by the local PIN. That can help a user whose wallet still opens but whose external backup is missing.
If the recovery phrase cannot be safely re-established, Terenval also supports creating/replacing/importing a wallet, which provides a migration path to fresh recovery material. The transfer itself should still be done as an ordinary signed blockchain transaction.
The important product message is not 'Terenval can recover anything'. It is that Terenval separates local PIN access from recovery material and gives users a concrete backup/migration workflow before device failure turns a warning into a loss.

Frequently asked questions
Can I keep using the wallet if the seed is lost?
You may be able to while the local wallet still works, but you no longer have a reliable recovery path if that installation is lost.
Should I uninstall and restore as a test?
Not until you have confirmed a valid backup. Uninstalling can destroy the only remaining access.
Can support regenerate my seed?
A self-custody support team normally cannot recreate missing private recovery material from an account identity.
Should I move funds to a new wallet?
If you cannot re-establish a durable backup, migrating to fresh, verified recovery material is usually the safer model.
Can Terenval reveal the phrase again?
The current wallet runtime includes a recovery-phrase reveal action protected by the local PIN, which is intended for legitimate backup recovery inside the wallet.
