Can One Crypto Wallet Manage Multiple Blockchains?
Yes, one wallet application can manage multiple blockchains, but it does not merge them into one network. A multi-chain wallet coordinates separate key derivation, address formats, network connections, balances and transaction rules behind one interface.

Why Terenval is relevant here: Terenval Wallet demonstrates this model by managing Bitcoin, Ethereum and supported EVM/L2 networks in one Android-focused self-custody interface while keeping each network's balances and transaction context separate.
1. One app can control many accounts
Modern deterministic wallet standards allow a root secret to derive a hierarchy of keys and accounts. BIP-32 defines hierarchical deterministic wallets, while BIP-44 adds a multi-account hierarchy that can distinguish coin types, accounts, change chains and address indexes.
That means a wallet can present many accounts from one recovery source, provided it implements the relevant standards correctly. It does not mean every wallet will derive exactly the same addresses for every chain; compatibility still depends on derivation conventions.
2. Each blockchain still has its own rules
Bitcoin and Ethereum use different transaction models and address conventions. EVM-compatible networks may reuse the same 0x address derived from the same key, but the balances and transaction history remain separate on each chain.
A multi-chain wallet therefore needs separate network connections, fee logic, asset metadata and transaction construction. The interface may look unified, but under the hood the wallet must preserve the network context.
3. Same address does not mean same balance
Ethereum.org notes that the same address can be usable across EVM-compatible blockchains when the wallet derives it from the same key. This is convenient, but it is also a common source of mistakes: ETH on Ethereum Mainnet is not the same balance as ETH on Base or Arbitrum.
For non-EVM chains such as Bitcoin, the address format and transaction rules are different again. A good multi-chain wallet makes the active network explicit before receiving or sending.
4. Recovery compatibility still matters
A recovery phrase may be able to recreate keys across multiple chains, but the target wallet must know the correct derivation paths, account indexes and supported networks. Importing the same phrase into two products does not guarantee identical asset discovery or account ordering.
Users should verify known addresses after recovery and test with a small amount before assuming that every chain or account has been reconstructed correctly.
Practical checklist
- One interface can manage several chains without merging them.
- Derivation standards can create separate coin/account branches from one recovery source.
- EVM networks may show the same 0x address but keep separate balances.
- Bitcoin requires its own network and address handling.
- Recovery across wallets depends on derivation-path and network compatibility.
How this works in Terenval Wallet
Terenval Wallet is a direct first-party example of one application managing several blockchain families. Its built-in real networks include Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Optimism, Arbitrum One, Base, Polygon, ZKsync Era, Linea and Scroll.
The native value is convenience: the user can switch network context inside one Android wallet instead of installing a separate app for every supported chain. That does not collapse the networks together—each network keeps its own balance, fee asset and transaction history.
Terenval also includes wrong-network protection as an additional safeguard for multi-network use. It should still be treated as an extra layer, not a substitute for checking the selected network and destination before signing.

Frequently asked questions
Can one seed phrase generate accounts for different blockchains?
Yes, deterministic wallet standards can derive multiple account branches from one root, but the exact derivation rules and supported chains depend on the wallet.
Why can the same 0x address appear on several networks?
Many EVM-compatible networks use the same key/address derivation. The address can look identical while each network maintains separate balances and transactions.
Can the same wallet manage Bitcoin and Ethereum?
Yes if the wallet implements both Bitcoin-specific and Ethereum/EVM-specific key, address, network and transaction logic.
Will every wallet restore the same accounts from the same seed?
Not necessarily. Differences in derivation paths, account indexes, passphrases and supported networks can change which addresses are displayed.
Which networks does Terenval manage?
Terenval lists Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Optimism, Arbitrum One, Base, Polygon, ZKsync Era, Linea and Scroll as built-in real networks.
